Children and Young People's Planning Group (CYPPG)

Vision

That children and young people in Durham and Chester-le-Street and their families will:
  • Be healthy
  • Be safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Experience economic well-being
All children and young people will be:
  • Listened to
  • Part of decision making
  • Aware of opportunities to be involved
  • Treated with respect and dignity

Values

The CYPPG and its members will:
  • Be open, transparent and honest.
  • Treat everyone with equality and maintain respect for ethnic diversity.
  • Respect and value differences between children, young people and their families and the views they express.
  • Provide a safe supportive forum to encourage partners to express their views.
  • Be democratic.
  • Communicate in clear language.
  • Organise its activities so that partners have time and opportunity to contribute fully.
  • Recognise and build on the strengths within the CYPPG and the wider community.
  • Champion children and young people’s issues.
  • Be flexible in achieving its aims.

Terms of Reference

  1. To act as a sub-group of the Local Strategic Partnerships in matters relating to Children and Young People.
  2. To act as a sub-group of the County Durham Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership in order to influence the local elements of relevant County wide strategies.
  3. To identify local needs, priorities, outputs and targets in relation to Children and Young People in D&CLS and in the context of national targets/outputs.
  4. To establish priorities for investment and service development.
  5. To promote and support the integration of services and budgets relating to children and young people to achieve real co-ordination and Best Value.
  6. To evaluate local development initiatives for Children and Young People and monitor their progress towards meeting local and national targets.
  7. To identify, share and support best practice about improving the quality of life for Children and Young people in the area.
